GUY GARDNER : Green Lantern Warrior

"Courage, above all things, is the first quality of a warrior."--Karl Von Clausewitz
Catching up with the other guy wearing the Green Lantern ring. Know your CBM Character - GUY GARDNER. This feature answers the questions - Who he is? What are his abilities? What are the changes he underwent? Who has portrayed him in Comic Book Movies?

Who is GUY GARDNER?
GUY GARDNER is a Green Lantern and a Warrior. Effective and powerful as well as obnoxious and arrogant. The second earthman to wield an Oan Emerald power ring but thinks of himself as the greatest Green Lantern of all time.

GUY GARDNER is a core member of the Green Lantern corps, and for a time a significant member of the Justice League. He was created by John Broome and Gil Kane and first appeared in Green Lantern #59 (March 1968). GUY GARDNER presently is a jingoistic parody of an ultra-macho "red-blooded American male", this characterization started back in the 1980s.

What are his powers and abilities?
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

Being partially "Vuldarian", Guy was able to alter his body to form blades and other weapons.

Green Lantern Ring Mastery:
First what is a Green Lantern Ring, it is considered to be one of the most powerful weapons in the known universe, has the ability to affect and use fundamental forces of the known universe, including electromagnetic energies such as gravity, radiation, heat, light, and powerful blasts of concussive force. The ring can form constructs of Oan energy. The primary function of the Power Ring is to provide a weapon capable of transforming the wearer's thoughts into physical constructs through the wearer's strength of willpower.

Guy's constructs are amongst the most powerful. Guy is so eager to ringsling, and possesses so much raw will power, his ring is often sparking like a leaky water faucet about to explode.

What are the changes in look he underwent?
1. First costume
Green Lantern #59 (March 1968)
In his first appearance GUY GARDNER's costume was a standard Green Lantern costume similar to what Hal Jordan was wearing at that time. This costume lasted until 1985.

2. Sleeveless vest
Green Lantern #196 (January 1986)
This was the time after the Crisis on Infinite Earth that GUY GARDNER began using a collared sleeveless vest as his Green Lantern uniform. He wore this until his stint with the Justice League in the early 90s.

3. Yellow Ring
GUY GARDNER Vol 1 #1 (October, 1992)
In his very first series, Guy is now sporting a complete leather jacket and instead of the Green Lantern logo he has a specialized "G" as an insignia. He has quitted the Green Lantern corps after losing a fight with Hal Jordan. He now wears a yellow ring which he got from the crypt of Sinestro. This costume lasted until '96.

4. Warrior
GUY GARDNER Vol 1 #17 (February, 1994)
This look lasted for about one issue, due to the event of Emerald Twilight Guy's ring experienced a massive power surge and burnt out, leaving him without a method of recharging it. Without the use of the ring he decided that he needs a new look and a new name, enter the Warrior. This particular look was revisited in Green Lantern Rebirth #1 sans the jacket.

5. Warrior Booster
GUY GARDNER Vol 1 #18 (March, 1994)
GUY GARDNER without the power of his ring asked Blue Beetle for help. He was given one of Booster Gold's prototype exo-skeletons based on Kilowog's design for the Rocket Red Armor.

6. Indiana Gardner
GUY GARDNER Vol 1 #22 (July, 1994)
The armored suit got destroyed fighting a deranged Hal Jordan, and Gardner lose an eye as well. After that event Guy immediately went in the quest looking for power he went on an expedition in the Amazon in the quest of the chalice of the Warrior Water. (Guy Indiana Jones and Nick Fury is on the phone, the other is asking for his story back and the other one just needs the eye patch that you stole.)

7. Vuldarian Warrior
GUY GARDNER Vol 1 #25 (November, 1994)
Succeeding in finding the chalice of the Warrior Water, he drank from it. Drinking the water activated the alien DNA that was implanted in his bloodline a millennium ago by a space-traveling race called the Vuldarians (again this make comics gold). He discovered new powers that would allow him to resume his role as a superhero, and he retained his name Warrior. He had this look until '96

8. Gal Gardner
GUY GARDNER Vol 1 #42 (May, 1996)
GUY GARDNER solo series is nearing its end but before it finishes we have this one memorable transformation where we see our Guy not so much like a guy. This was only in one issue and the villain of the piece, Dementor, was the one who transformed Gardner to his/her present predicament.

9. Back in the Corps
Green Lantern: Rebirth #1 (July 2005)
In this miniseries Guy's Vuldarian DNA is strangely overwritten by his human DNA when Parallax possesses Gardner and several Green Lanterns. When Parallax was defeated we see Gardner back in the Green Lantern Corps as one of its senior officers. He is back wearing his sleeveless jacket up to this date.

10. Corpse Division
Green Lantern Corps Vol 2 #7 (February, 2007)
For a brief moment Guy was sent to work with The Corpse, the top secret no ethical standard Black Ops division of the Green Lanterns Corps but has no official ties to the Corps. Guy was denied membership because he had difficulty reconciling himself to murdering a criminal. Guy operating in this mission did not use Power Rings; instead, he swallowed special coin-like disks that give him all of the powers of the standard ring for a limited time. These disks produce purple energy instead of the traditional green. He wore a black uniform with no symbols.

11. Rage Lantern
Green Lantern Corps: Blackest Night #43 (February 2010)
Grief stricken by the death of a fellow Green Lantern, he was driven to incredible rage was sought out by a red power ring, which transforms him into the Red Lantern of sector 2814. Now GUY GARDNER is powered by both green and red power rings. This transformation did not last long as he is later returned to normal by the Green Lantern Planet - Mogo (To those DC noobs you heard me right there is a Green Lantern that is a Planet).

GUY GARDNER in Live Media
1. Matthew Settle
GUY GARDNER has only been portrayed once in live-action TV. In 1997, Matthew Settle played him in a Keith Giffen-inspired pilot for a proposed TV series Justice League of America. This version of the character is a combination of Earth's various Lanterns. His uniform is based on the "sleeveless vest" comics version of GUY GARDNER, though he wears a mask and insignia that resemble those of Kyle Rayner's first costume. Further, his appearance and personality more accurately mirror those of Hal Jordan. (They left out John Stewart's traits is that discrimination or something?)

You could see Guy in the video below along with the other Justice League characters:

Howz about a GUY GARDNER one! ; P
[@LEEE777 enjoyed researching this one.]

This is the 16th article in my Know Your CBM Character series. Any requests and suggestions for an article for this series write it down in the comment section BELOW.

Message to the CBM community:To those who are making requests, check first [here] because I might have done an article on the character already. If I have not please be patient, I will get on it as soon as possible (but consider the fact that I spend hours writing one of these articles). Try to limit your request to characters that already have been adapted to live media, so that the feature will at least be relevant to the site – Comic Book Movie(though I include TV characters).

Characters in Manga or Anime’, I am not particularly familiar of, I am not discounting these characters but it will probably take some time before I write a feature on them because I have to read up on these characters.

Thank you for reading these articles!

If there are errors on the feature article above, blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there).

Billy Batson : CAPTAIN MARVEL - " The World's Mightiest Mortal"

“Magic is believing in yourself, if you can do that, you can make anything happen.” --Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
It's time to know the BIG RED CHEESE, Who he is? What are his abilities? What are the changes he underwent? Who has portrayed him in Comic Book Movies?

Who is CAPTAIN MARVEL
CAPTAIN MARVEL is part young Billy Batson and part magical champion for good . His powers were granted by the powerful wizard Shazam, and access them by speaking the wizard's name.

CAPTAIN MARVEL is a magical superhero created by artist C. C. Beck and writer Bill Parker, the character first appeared in Whiz Comics #2 (February 1940).

What are his powers and abilities?
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

Power of Shazam: In order to access the powers of CAPTAIN MARVEL, Batson must invoke the name of the Wizard Shazam, thereby summoning the spells and energies of those extra-dimensional beings once known as "the gods on Earth". Batson also has ties to the Quintessence.

CAPTAIN MARVEL possesses the following superhuman and magical powers:
S for the Wisdom of Solomon: CAPTAIN MARVEL has instant access to a vast amount of knowledge. The wisdom of Solomon is sometimes known as the Wisdom of the Ancients. CAPTAIN MARVEL has superhuman clairvoyance and awareness. He is provided with counsel and advice in times of need. CAPTAIN MARVEL has knowledge of all languages, ancient and modern warfare, and can hypnotize or enchant people with his power. The power of wisdom lends him knowledge far beyond mortal comprehension.

H for the Strength of Hercules: In his role as Earth's Mightiest Mortal, Batson has incredible super strength.

A for the Stamina of Atlas: The Titan known as Atlas had limitless endurance. Atlas cradled the Earth for time immemorial. He can overcome tremendous physical resistance. This superhuman ability lends to his ability to stay as CAPTAIN MARVEL for elongated periods of time, survive in space and fight seemingly endless battles.

Z for the Power of Zeus: Zeus was Olympus's high father and the god of magical lightning bolts. Zeus' power, besides fueling the magic thunderbolt that transform CAPTAIN MARVEL, also enhances CAPTAIN MARVEL's other physical and magical abilities. This power reinforces his physical invulnerability and resistance against magic spells and attacks. CAPTAIN MARVEL can use the magical lightning as a weapon. He can summon Zeus's lighting bolts to strike his opponents. Zeus's lightning may be used to create mythic apparatus, restore damage done to Marvel, and act as a power source for magical spells.

A for the Courage of Achilles: CAPTAIN MARVEL has heroic levels of inner strength from which to draw. He has the courage of the Greek Hero Achilles which in battle and while in the CAPTAIN MARVEL form allows him to wield great bravery and spirit. CAPTAIN MARVEL is blessed with an innate and harmonious good will. A divine cheerfulness that is characterized by his trademark grin. It gives him a perseverance that pushes him to always confront a challenge with a knowing optimism.

M for the Speed of Mercury: By channeling Mercury's speed, CAPTAIN MARVEL can easily fly and move at speeds far exceeding Mach 10 while in earth's atmosphere. This is far from his limit as the Speed of Mercury allows him to move at speeds faster than light. .

What are the costume changes he underwent?
Unlike other heroes we have tackled so far in this featurettes it seems like CAPTAIN MARVEL has the fewest costume changes throughout his career. What he has worn since his first appearance in Whiz Comics Vol 1 #2 (February, 1940) is still the same design that he is wearing up to this day. Aside from the minor tweaks and artist preferences it is pretty much the same look. So, what we will present here are the character renditions throughout the years.

1. 1940 -1953

2. 1973-1978
CAPTAIN MARVEL was absent in the comic scene for nearly two decades because of some legal matters concerning Superman.

3. 1987
Because of lackluster stories we almost have another decade without a CAPTAIN MARVEL on-going series.

4. 1993-1999

5. 2008-2009

6. Marvel
October 2006 Trials of Shazam #1 is the first time we see a different Billy Batson - CAPTAIN MARVEL, the Wizard Shazam has died and we have Billy Batson succeed him to be the protector of magics on Earth. He traded his red costume with a white one and added a hood, his hair also turned white (we could probably call him Billy the White at this point). He dropped the Captain from his name and he is simply known as Marvel.

That is pretty much CAPTAIN MARVEL at this point, he started out as sort of a knock-off Superman, who became more popular than Superman at one point (hence the lawsuit, remember back then they where from different companies).

I like Captain Marvel, because he truly is a character for geeks. Because if you are not a geek you'll find his history very confusing, and you are better off giving up. For one thing many has called this character Shazam, in reality Shazam is the name of the Wizard who gives him his powers. The confusion came because the comics where we see Captain Marvel is entitled Shazam!. If you are new and have a passing knowledge about comic companies you're going to find it odd that there's a Captain Marvel running in DC comics (where's Captain DC in Marvel comics?). The confusion came again at the time where Captain Marvel has that legal issue with Superman, during that 20 odd years Marvel comics licensed the name Captain Marvel, and created a character with that name. After the legal issues where finish, Billy Batson's Captain Marvel has jump to DC comics, they have now the problem of not being able to call their comics Captain Marvel, because the rights are already in Marvel comics. That is where they decided to call the comics Shazam! with the exclamation mark. Now both DC and Marvel has characters named Captain Marvel, but DC has the Original (If you were confused, so was I... a long time ago)

Captain Marvel in Live Media
1. Tom Tyler
1941 - Adventures of Captain Marvel: This was a twelve-part film serial produced by Republic Pictures. Its release made Captain Marvel the first superhero to be depicted in film.

2. Jackson Bostwick
1974- Shazam!: This is a half-hour live-action television program produced by Filmation. The television version of Shazam! departs notably from the comic book and radio versions of the character. The eponymous wizard Shazam does not appear in the series; teenage Billy instead speaks directly to the elders that empowered him via a communication device.

3. John Davey
1975 - Shazam!/Isis Hour!. This was a continuation of the previous show, with John Davey replacing Bostwick in the role of Captain Marvel.

The video below is a fan edit not an actual show, but you could see a segment of the actual Shazam!/Isis Hour! with Captain Marvel and Isis flying around.

4. Garrett Craig
1978 - Legends of the Superheroes: Shortly after the Shazam! show ended its network run, Captain Marvel, played by Garrett Craig, appeared as a character in a pair of low-budgeted live-action comedy specials.

Selina Kyle : CATWOMAN - The Feline Fatale featurette

"A black cat crossing your path signifies that the animal is going somewhere." --Groucho Marx
With Anne Hathaway's nice figure fitting purrfectly in the catsuit in the Dark Knight Rises, It's time to refresh our knowledge about her CBM Character - CATWOMAN. This feature answers the questions - Who she is? What are her abilities? What are the changes she underwent? Who has portrayed her in Comic Book Movies?

Who is Catwoman?
Catwoman is Selina Kyle, a morally ambiguous character who has thread the line of being a super-villain and an anti-hero. Years of training have made her stealthy and agile as a world-class criminal, and her mastery of the martial arts makes her a formidable physical opponent. She began her career as a cat-burglar, but has reformed and begun protecting Gotham City, in her own style.

Selina Kyle, first appeared in Batman #1 (Spring 1940) in which she is known as The Cat. In her first appearance, she was a whip-carrying burglar with a taste for high-stake thefts. She was created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane.

What are her powers and abilities?
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

Cat-like Speed: While not considered superhuman, she is easily the fastest non-meta human around. She literally moves like a cat!

Peak Athlete Conditioning: Selina is a gifted and accomplished athlete, with heightened acrobatic prowess.

Feline Empathy: Catwoman has a good affinity for cats. Feline species tend to flock to her, accepting her almost immediately, recognizing somehow that she is not an enemy but a friend. This allows her to calm injured cats, train them, befriends them, and form strong bonds with them. These animals will even sometimes come to her defense when she is attacked.

Expert Combatant: She was trained by masters in martial arts, boxing and street-fighting. She is a dangerous, clever and resourceful fighter, known for precise, agile attacks and speedy getaways. Her formidable hand-to-hand combat skills are augmented by her cat-like speed, reflexes, balance, and flexibility. Has also mastered Dragon Style Kung Fu and Karate.

Stealth: Fittingly, Catwoman is a master thief possessed of unsurpassed stealth and cunning. An expert at both low- and high-tech heists, she is Gotham City's finest cat-burglar.

Seduction Expert: Selina has a body that heterosexual men usually only find in their dreams. She exudes a sensuality and sophistication that makes her very adept at seduction. She has grown adept at gauging men's moods and learning how to offer them what they want or need to appease them.

Weapons
Claws: Catwoman's gloves and boots contain special retractable claws which are formed of a strong steel which extend from and retract into her gloved fingertips and boots when she triggers pressure switches. They can shred a bullet-proof vest, punch through an aluminum frame car door, or dig into porous surfaces to climb.

Whip: Catwoman is highly proficient in the use of the bullwhip. She employs a 12 foot long, black leather braided bullwhip which is normally carried on her person either in her boot or in a small backpack.

What are the changes she underwent?
1. The Cat
Selina Kyle first appeared as "The Cat" in Batman #1 (1940). She was a mysterious burglar, jewel thief, and a mistress of disguise . She does not wear any cat costume yet, but the story established her core personality as a femme fatale.

2. First Mask
After her first appearance, Selina decided wear an animal-themed mask and a cape. But she still wore an evening dress only now it has a high collar and a cloak that complements it.

3. Catwoman
In 1947 Catwoman was officially using her well-known moniker and wore a purple dress with a green cape as her official costume. It had a cat mask which left her hair loose while she accessorized with a pair of slouchy boots and a belt. She'd also add the choker much later to this costume. On occasions Selina would wear a version of the outfit that was more of a bodysuit.

4. Back in Green
In Batman #197 (1967), Selina showed up in a new costume, which is still a bodysuit with a mask but she has forego the cape. But the color she choses doesn't really strike out like something "catty".

5. Go-go
Catwoman underwent a radical change in appearance in early 1969. She shed her green outfit for a go-go outfit, boots and radically-bobbed hair. This look got its debut in the story in Batman #210, March 1969. Catwoman would continue to use this look all the way into May 1974 .

6. Sexy Classic
1983 Batman #355, Selina went back into wearing purple dress gown which has a lower neckline and showed more of her legs. The boots were exchanged for longer, tighter ones. And the gloves have been changed to allow the fingers to be free.

7. Year One
1986 this was during Batman Year One story we see retconned Catwoman who has a short hairstyle and donned gray cowled bodysuit complete with a tail and whiskers, which also features chic ankle boots. This was her look up until 1993.

8. Own Series
When Catwoman eventually got her own series in 1993. She is shown wearing a purple spandex catsuit with thigh-high boots and long opera-length clawed gloves. She also returned to her old mask which allowed her hair to hang down around her face.

9. Versatility
Showing the versatility of her new catsuit, it provided her with some additional features for example night vision goggles. This suit also allowed her to adapt it to other occasions, samples are the one she used for the desert climate and the other for a snowy adventure.

10. Technocat
Catwoman was not spared during the 90s crazed, she has to undergo like all heroes during that time some "cool" upgrade. In a battle with a techno-based villain, she find herself injured and with torn out costume, so she had a special armor made, complete with a multitude of weapons.

11. Returning to Year One
After the technocraze, Catwoman is back wearing the spandex catsuit, this time around no longer exposing her hair (she sometimes has whiskers other times none - I guess it depends upon her mood). Another story set early on her career also had her wear this kind of costume, but with whiskers.

12. Catwoman No More?
At the end part of her first series, Selina briefly utilized this costume which is clearly not a Catwoman costume.

13. Leather Outfit
2001 we see a revitalized Catwoman, now sporting a black leather outfit, with large goggles. A modern look for a modern audience. She's been wearing this outfit ever since.

Catwoman in Live Media
There were four Catwoman in the live-action Batman television series of the 1960s, the first one was Julie Newmar in 12 episodes. Eartha Kitt replaced her in Catwoman's final three episodes, with Lee Meriwether substituting for her in the 1966 motion picture, after producers learned that Newmar was unavailable. Then there was an uncredited fourth actress played Catwoman as part of a cameo villain team-up in the penultimate episode of the series. The Catwoman here was never clearly stated to be Selina Kyle.

1. Julie Newmar

2. Eartha Kitt

3. Lee Merriwether

4. Uncredited
You'll see her brief appearance around at 5:10 of the video below.

5. Michelle Pfeiffer
Catwoman was portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer in the 1992 film Batman Returns. As one of two main villains. The Catwoman origin story is something of a variation on the original Catwoman miniseries. Here, Selina Kyle is depicted as the lonely, frustrated, yet dutiful and efficient secretary of corrupt tycoon Max Shreck. After she accidentally discovers his plot to build a power plant that would steal Gotham's electricity, Shreck then attempts to murder her by pushing her out the window of his top-story office. Though her fall is partly broken by several canvas awnings, Selina lies motionless on the snow-covered ground, seemingly dead. She is then mysteriously revived by a group of alley cats that flock around her and begin gnawing at her fingers.

6. Maggie Baird
Selina Kyle, Catwoman, appeared through flashbacks depicting her death, in the pilot episode of the 2002 television series Birds of Prey. The show featured Batman and Catwoman's daughter, the Huntress, also known as Helena Kyle. Maggie Baird portrayed Catwoman unlike her comicbook counterpart this version is a Metahuman.

7. Julia Rose ?
I'm not sure if this should be included here as she plays Julie Newmar playing Catwoman in Return to the Batcave: The Misadventures of Adam and Burt is a 2002 television movie reuniting the cast of the 1960s Batman TV show.

8. Halle Berry
A Catwoman movie was released in 2004 who starred Halle Berry in the titular character. This film's Catwoman bore little resemblance to the comic book version, serving as the only protagonist in the Catwoman's alter ego here is Patience Phillips, a woman who eventually became Catwoman after a near-death experience (similar to what happened with Pfeiffer's character). Patience gained powers from the Egyptian cat goddess Bastet through a gathering of cats led by an Egyptian Mau. The movie alludes to other women in the past who have been granted such cat-like abilities, particularly in a scene in which Patience finds herself amongst a series of images of prior Catwomen, including Pfeiffer's Batman Returns version of Selina Kyle.

9. Anne Hathaway
Next we see Selina Kyle, Catwoman will be in The Dark Knights Rises, she will be played by Anne Hathaway.

You should do a Catwoman one…

To the community: For those who have placed their requests, if I have not done your article please be patient, this featurettes do take some time to finish. Check [here] as well maybe I have done an article on it already. The other characters I have to be honest I am not really that familiar with (Especially Manga or Anime). And I am not comfortable posting something that atleast 75% of what is written I am sure is correct. I have to familiarize myself first on the character, which means I have to do a lot of reading. Another thing, I tend to do featurettes only on characters that have live adaptations, just to be respectful on this site which is of course called "ComicBookMovie" dot com (I know that I use the term movie loosely by including tv shows). Thanks again for reading, and those who see my grammar to be all over the place, forgive me I will try to improve it (though you have to consider this is not my first language).

Note: Any error in the article above, if any, just blame it on my age, humanity and ignorance. Just be sure to check the comment section for the corrections, any error I made will surely be pointed out and corrected by much bigger geeks (because there will always be a bigger geek out there).

Matt Murdock : DAREDEVIL - "The Man Without Fear" featurette

“The key to change... is to let go of fear.” --Rosanne Cash
Know your CBM Character - Daredevil. This feature answers the questions - Who he is? What are his abilities? What are the changes he underwent? Who has portrayed him in Comic Book Movies?

Who is Daredevil?
Daredevil is Matt Murdock, blinded by radioactive waste when he was young, the same radioactive materials heightened his other remaining senses. He grew up a successful defense attorney, but at nights he clad himself in red and prowls the rooftops of Hell's Kitchen as its guardian devil.

Daredevil was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Bill Everett, with inputs from Jack Kirby. His first appearance was in Daredevil #1 (April 1964).

What are his powers and abilities?
Note: Due to the nature of comicbooks being an on-going tale, the character's powers along with his appearance, is in a constant state of flux.

Superhuman Senses: Daredevil has superhuman senses of smell, taste, touch, balance, and hearing.

Radar Sense: Daredevil can also sense the proximity and arrangement of objects about himself.

Telepathy: Due to training with a master warrior of the Chaste, known only as Stick, Daredevil has displayed minor telepathic abilities.

Abilities
Gifted Intellect: Matt has a high IQ; he's an accomplished strategist as well as an expert in interrogation, disguise, medicine, science and detective work.

Expert Detective: Daredevil has shown to be an expert detective using his intellect to figure out complex problems and hyper-senses to find clues and evidence to crime scenes.

Expert Tracker: With the aide of his hyper-senses Matt is able to track objects and people from miles away with ease.

Master Acrobat: Daredevil is classed superb-Olympic athlete, gymnast, acrobat, and aerialist due to constant training and exercise. His reflexes and agility are equally remarkable and are on par with the finest human athletes.

Weapons Proficiency: Daredevil is proficient in wielding various different weapons, but prefers his billy club.

Expert Marksman: He is very accurate in throwing projectile like weaponries.

Expert Stick Fighter: Matt is an expert in wielding all types of stick weapons which range to staffs, batons, nunchaku, and paired eskrima sticks.

Master Martial Artist: Daredevil has also been trained in the ninja arts by Stick, Daredevil's fighting style blends American-style Boxing, Ninjutsu, Judo, Aikijujutsu toshin-do, taekwondo, capoeira and wushu, most notably Stick Fighting with his acrobatic ability.

What are the changes he underwent?

1. 1st appearance
Daredevil debuted in Daredevil #1 (April 1964). The character's original costume design was a combination of black, yellow, and red, reminiscent of acrobat tights. He only had one D as a logo on his chest for the first 4 issues, on the 5th issued of December of '64 it became the more familiar DD logo.

2. Red
A year after his first appearance in Daredevil #7 (April 1965). Matt Murdock dropped the bright yellow of his costume and went for a blood red hue. He maintained the principal design of his previous costume. This red costume becomes his standard uniform, the iconic daredevil look.

3. Armor
We are back in the 90s again my friends (if you've been following my articles, or a geek since then you would have an idea what you are in for). It was in '93s Fall From Grace storyline that Daredevil gets beaten up badly by his villains. He then decided that he needs a new more protected costume. Using biometric materials and a small amount of adamantium, he makes a new Red & Black protective armored costume. But by issue Daredevil #344 the suit got torn and Daredevil was back in his red threads.

4. Ninja outfit
During the limited series Daredevil : Man Without Fear (1993), which is a retelling of Daredevil's origin he briefly wore a ninja-esque costume prior to using the name Daredevil. The costume consisted of sweat suit, a bandana and a cane.

5. Flying Blind
In 1998 Daredevil issues #376-379. In Flying Blind, Daredevil went undercover as a S.H.I.E.L.D spy but woke up in France with no memory of who he is (call Jason Bourne he wants his life story back). He knows he is in some sort of a mission and is compelled to don tights and fight crime. The costume he wore shows his complete face and has a billy-club holster on his chest. Eventually he will regain his memory.

6. Secret War
During 2005's Secret War event a small group of heroes had a secret mission in Latveria, all of the heroes on that mission wore modified costumes, this included Daredevil. The costume retains Daredevil silhouette with some elements harkening back to his armor costume like the chin guard, his color scheme is also modified with black added to his purely red regular costume and he now sports a small stylized DD symbol on his left chest rather than the large logo emblazoned on the middle.

7. Father
Also in '05 was the Daredevil: Father limited series. We see Daredevil, fighting a super-powered street gang, in a kendo outfit complete with a katana and a motorcycle (this is what makes comics good).

8. Captain Universe
In January of 2006, we see Daredevil with the powers of Captain Universe. Matt got his sight back when he has the Captain Universe powers bestowed upon him but has to give them up again in his battle with AIM and his quest to help the struggling cosmic entity.

9. Shadowland
In the Shadowland storyline Daredevil was possessed by a demon known as ’The Beast’. Daredevil wore a new Black costume to reflect the dark times he is undergoing. But after the event and the demon exorcise out of him, he returned to his red costume.

Daredevil in Live Media
1. Rex Smith
Daredevil first live adaptation was in the 1989 television movie, The Trial of the Incredible Hulk. Daredevil's alter-ego Matt Murdock is helping to prove Hulk's alter ego Bruce Banner's innocence. Daredevil's origin in this version involves Murdock being inspired by a police officer to become a hero. Daredevil's costume here looks similar to the black outfit pre-daredevil ninja outfit in Daredevil: Man Without Fear limited series, but the show predates iit by 4 years.

2. Ben Affleck
A Daredevil movie was released In 2003 and starred Ben Affleck starred as the titular character. Matt Murdock had a cameo in 2005 Elektra movie but the scene was deleted, it was later included in the Director's Cut. (I hope someone out there could post these cameo here).
